Our old west Wagon Camp is held once a year at Hitching Post Park along side picturesque Medicine Creek. The wagon camp is reenactment of settler's camp in the late 1800s. In 1901 thousands of people were drawn to this area for the opening of Indian Lands. This last great Oklahoma opening was determined by lottery instead of a land rush. Camps sprung up along the creeks and streams where the people lived in wagons or tents awaiting the outcome of the lottery.
Step back in time at a Medicne Park Wagon Camp. See a working blacksmith with his 1890's traveling forge wagon as well as a fortune teller and her Gypsy wagon. Share in the campfire beans and cornbread served up in cowboy tradition from a Chuck Wagon, Period style wall tents and campers in period costume complete the atmosphere. And for the entertainment of the day; a genuine traveling Buffalo Elixir Medicine Show and old time music.
While you're at the Wagon Camp be on the alert for you never kow when a gunfight might break out between rowdy cowhands.
